Before she was the Lampeter-Strasburg girls lacrosse coach, Claudia Ovchinnikoff was a two-sport student-athlete at Temple University in the mid- to late-1990s.

A four-year starter and three-time All-American in women’s lacrosse, Ovchinnikoff was the 1998 NCAA Player of the Year in her senior campaign with the Owls. She later went on to join the women’s lacrosse coaching staff at the University of North Carolina before she and her husband moved to Lancaster County in 2004.

Ovchinnikoff chats about that journey with LNP sports reporter John Walk as the guest on episode No. 76 of the "Inspirational Athletes" podcast. She also details the challenges in recently starting up her own business, Full Force Lacrosse, and her return to the coaching game the last handful of years, first as an assistant at Lancaster Country Day before becoming a first-time head coach at L-S this spring.
