Hunter Neiss, a Manheim Township junior, scored a pair of goals for the Hershey Jr. Bears Thursday in the team's 5-4 shootout victory over the top-ranked Oakland Jr. Grizzlies in the first round of the USA Hockey Tier II 16U National Championships in Wayne, New Jersey.

Neiss broke a scoreless tie 12:40 into the first period and netted his second goal of the game 15:40 into the third to give the Bears a 4-2 lead. The Grizzlies, entering the tournament as the top-ranked team in the nation, tied the game late in the third period, but Hershey, with goals in the shoootout from Brenden Yingling and Cade Helmer, secured the victory.

Hershey, with a lineup that also includes Conestoga Valley's Logan Buch, continues tournament play with a game against the Junior Ducks scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
