LEWISBURG — Saturday might have marked the last day of the PIAA Class 3A swimming and diving championships, but Catherine Horner wasn't quite ready for her season to be over.

The Lampeter-Strasburg junior won the first preliminary heat of the 100 backstroke in the morning, clocking in at 57.45. The time held up through the next three heats to put Horner 14th overall, earning her a spot in the consolation final.

After the morning preliminary heats, the top eight swimmers advance to the finals in each event, while the swimmers finishing ninth to 16th claims spots in the consolations.

Horner was one of five Lancaster-Lebanon League swimmers to compete on the second day of states at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.

Warwick's Catherine Chen opened the day by swimming the 100 freestyle in 53.65, a mark that put the senior 28th overall. Manheim Township's Liz Perot followed in the 500 freestyle, hitting the wall in 5:10.73, 22nd overall.

Two Lancaster County girls swam in the final heat of the 100 breaststroke. Swimming in lane one, Cedar Crest's Krysta Weik posted a time of 1:06.90 to finish 26th. At the other end of the pool, Township's Olivia Pyott touched in 1:08.79, 31st overall.

The Class 3A girls finals and consolation finals are scheduled to start at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday. For updates, follow @dianapugs on Twitter.
