Xtreme Girls Soccer, a youth travel team affiliated with the Rage United Soccer Club in Lancaster, is set to for the National Presidents Cup tournament scheduled for July 10-14 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Competing in the U17 division with juniors and seniors from eight school districts, the Xtreme (28-3-2) won titles at the state and regional levels to qualify for the four-team national tournament. Emerson Coyne (Hempfield) and Hannah Dunn (Donegal) each scored three goals to lead the team in the Eastern Presidents Cup in Charleston, West Virginia, a regional tournament featuring 43 tereams from 15 states. The Xtreme went 2-0-1 in preliminary matches and defeated Virginia's Beach FC Black, 4-1, in the semifinals, and New Jersey's Twin County Storm, 2-0, in the June 18 finals.
The Xtreme, coached by Jim and Austin Wright, also captured the Eastern Pennsylvania Presidents Cup title, defeating Lehigh Valley's Penn Fusion, 2-0, in the finals May 18.
As part of the lead-up to the national tournament, the team plans to join the Lancaster Inferno for a watch party at Mad Chef Craft Brewery during Sunday's World Cup Final between the United States and the Netherlands.
