United State's Lauren Moyer, left, works against Belgium's Lien Hillewaert on Monday, November 26, 2018.

The U.S. women's field hockey team came just 59 seconds shy of its third shootout of the FIH Pro League season, and a very valuable point in the standings, at Belgium on Wednesday.

With the score knotted 1-1 and Team USA down a player after Ashley Hoffman was issued a yellow card, FIH No. 13 Belgium found the game-winner off the stick of Louise Versavel. The attacker just got the tip of her stick on a long pass from Alix Gerniers for the deflection and goal with 59 seconds on the clock.

The Red Panthers opened the scoring in the third quarter as Gerniers found Anne-Sophie Weyns for the lead with just under seven minutes left in the period. No. 12 Team USA would find the equalizer in the 44th minute, however, as Linnea Gonzales pushed a rebound over the goal line.

With the loss, Team USA remains in last place in the nine-team Pro League. The Americans have only three points in seven games, picking up two points with a 5-4 shootout victory over Belgium at Spooky Nook last month. The Red Panthers remain in third place with 13 points in six games, including consecutive home wins this week.

No. 1 the Netherlands currently sits atop the standings, using a 6-0 win over China to leapfrog Argentina. No. 4 Las Leonas have a chance to reclaim the top spot when they host New Zealand on Saturday.

Team USA will be back in action Sunday at the Netherlands. The game, which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Eastern, will be streamed by Bleacher Report Live.
