Though the rain held off at Spooky Nook Sports Sunday night, there was only so long the U.S. women's field hockey team could contain Pan Am rival Argentina.

After a scoreless first quarter, Las Leonas scored the only goal they would need two minutes into the second as Augustina Albertarrio netted a rebound. FIH No. 4 Argentina would add two more goals in the second half, including consecutive tallies from Victoria Granatto, to beat Team USA 4-0.

The loss marked the second 4-0 decision the U.S. dropped over the weekend, falling to No. 3 Australia on Friday. Just like that game, No. 12 Team USA struggled to get the ball into the circle against Argentina on Sunday.

The Americans took three of their four shots in the third corner, including a trio of corners which were saved by Argentinean goalie Cristina Cosentino.

The win marks Argentina's eighth straight win of the season, keeping Las Leonas in second place in the standings with 30 points in 12 games (83.3%). FIH No. 1 the Netherlands continues to hold the top spot with 21 points in eight games (87.5%).

Team USA remains in last place after the loss, accumulating just four points in 12 games (11.11%).

The Americans next chance at earning their first Pro League win comes on Saturday, May 18 when No. 10 China visits Spooky Nook. Tickets for the game, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., are still available at USAFieldHockey.com.
