USA vs Brazil PanAm Cup women

USA's Ali Froede (20) sends the ball downfield against Brazil during first half action of a Pan American Cup womens pool play action at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in East Hempfield Twp. Wednesday August 9, 2017.

Playing at Spooky Nook Sports for the first time in a month, the U.S. women's field hockey team unfortunately found itself trailing on Friday night.

Visiting Australia continued to add to its lead throughout the FIH Pro League game, led by a pair of Savannah Fitzpatrick strikes in the fourth quarter, to top Team USA 4-0.

Rosie Malone earned Player of the Match honors after cracking the scoreboard for FIH No. 3 Australia three minutes into the second quarter. Team USA would close off the cage for the rest of the period and play their best, according to coach Janneke Schopman, in the third quarter.

Fitzpatrick would break things open in the final 11 minutes, however, scoring twice in the span of 49 seconds to pull away.
