A month after their first FIH Pro League meeting, the U.S. women's field hockey team once again found itself trailing Great Britain on Saturday morning.
The defending Olympic champions took the lead into halftime, but Team USA found the equalizer late in the third quarter at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. Netting a rebound on a penalty corner, Lauren Moyer knotted the game 1-1, a score that would hold through the final horn, leading to a shootout.
Captain Kat Sharkey put No. 12 Team USA ahead in the first round as goalie Kelsey Bing saved the first three British attempts. No. 2 Great Britain would connect on its final two shot, however, clinching a 2-1 victory and a bonus point in the standings.
