Vernon was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing and spending time in the mountains as a member of the Lazy 7 Hunting Camp. He was a muscle-car enthusiast and an active local "cruiser". Most of all, Vernon was a loving father and grandfather, who treasured the time he spent with his family.
