Ruth Anne (Johnson) Sweitzer

Ruth Anne (Johnson) Sweitzer went to her heavenly home in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, 2015. She was a resident of Maple Farm Nursing Center in Akron, PA.

Ruth Anne was born on October 20, 1930 to Charles W. Johnson, Sr. and Anna Belle (McCorkle) Johnson (both deceased) in Sadsburyville, Chester County, PA. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul H. Sweitzer, who died in April, 2007.

Ruth Anne was employed as a bank teller for The National Bank of Chester Valley, Coatesville, PA and Eastern Lancaster County School District in the Middle School dishwasher room. Her greatest attribute was being a wife and mother.

Always the servant, Ruth Anne served where either her husband or children were involved. In Coatesville, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Washington Hose Company and she was a den mother for her sons' Cub Scout troop. After relocating to New Holland, she served with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Liberty Fire Company, now Garden Spot Fire Rescue. She also was a part of the PTO for the New Holland Elementary School, was a volunteer in the Garden Spot 4-H club where her daughters were members and she was leader of the Junior Girl Scout troop. She regularly attended Twin Valley Bible Chapel, Morgantown. During Ruth Anne's retirement years, she enjoyed babysitting each one of the grandbabies as they came along and looked forward to family gatherings of her whole Sweitzer clan.

Ruth Anne is survived by a brother, Charles W. Johnson, Jr., Ft. Lauderdale, FL and a sister, Margret (Johnson) Cox of Wagontown, PA.

Her four children are Joel H. Sweitzer, married to Amy (Glick) Sweitzer, Smoketown, PA, Mark H. Sweitzer married to Leslie (Powell) Sweitzer, North East, MD, Paula Anne (Sweitzer) Sauder, married to Roger Sauder, Bowmansville, and Beth Anne (Sweitzer) Coblentz, married to Gideon Coblentz, New Holland.

Ruth Anne leaves behind 11 beloved grandchildren and 1 great-grandson: Ryan H. Sweitzer married to Lauren (Carter) Sweitzer, parents of Jacob William, Pittsburgh, PA, Sarah and Jenna Sweitzer, both at home in Smoketown, PA, Andrea (Sweitzer) married to Bradly Farquhar, East Petersburg, PA, Jason Sweitzer, North East, MD, Stephanie Sweitzer of North East, MD engaged to Tyler Weber of Perryville, MD, Kyle Coblentz, Chad Coblentz engaged to Sarah Horton and Dustin Coblentz, all of New Holland, Tacey and Janae Sauder at home in Bowmansville.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland with Pastors Mike Sigman and Will Martin officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville. A viewing will be held at Beck's on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
