Michael John Rettew, 41, of Alsace Township died July 8, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem Township, from complications of a work-related injury that he suffered on April 29, 2014.

Born July 23, 1972 in Lancaster, PA, he was a son of Donald Richard and Jeanette Marie (Martin) Rettew of Alsace Township.

He was a 1990 graduate of Oley Valley High School and a 1995 graduate of Penn State University.

Michael was employed as a machinist and fabricator with Vossloh Track Material, Muhlenberg Township for 8 years, last working on April 29, 2014.

He loved working on the family property, which includes 60 acres of land.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, is his sister, Melissa Anne (Rettew), wife of Jeffrey A. Epler of Reading.

Also surviving is his paternal grandfather, Earl B. Rettew of East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County and his maternal grandparents, Ralph H., husband of Gwen A. (Sterneman) Martin of Manheim Township, Lancaster County.

Services will be Saturday at noon in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley. A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. For online condolences, visit kuhnstitzelfuneralhomes.com.
