MaryAnn Reighard Keesey died at her home in Elizabethtown on Friday, March 2, 2012 with her family following a 20 month battle with cancer and related complications.
MaryAnn was born on August 29, 1949 in Bedford, PA. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Betty (Wiles) Reighard.
She is survived by her husband Richard L. Keesey, with whom she celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in December 2011; daughters Adrienne Underkoffler and her husband Jeremy of Elizabethtown; Meredith Spidel and her husband Jared of Downingtown; grandchildren Isaac and Elyse Spidel, and a sister Jane Wiesner of Woodbury, PA.
MaryAnn was a graduate of Northern Bedford High School, Loysburg, PA, Elizabethtown College and Millers-ville University. She was a Mathematics teacher in the Donegal School District from 1971 until her retirement in 2011. She served as National Honor Society Advisor, Math Department Chairperson, and member of the Donegal Education Association Scholarship Committee. Many remember her as the coordinator of the National Honor Society Annual Daffodil Sale for the American Cancer Society.
She had been a member of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren for over 40 years where she enjoyed singing in the choir, serving on the Nurture Commission and for two years as Church Board Chair. In recent years she especially enjoyed participating the activities of the Merry Madeline's Red Hat Group.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Donegal Education Association (DEA), Scholarship Fund, 915 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
