John Sokolowski, 73 years, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home in Mount Joy, PA. He was formerly of York, PA.
John was born August 22, 1945 in Gardner, MA to his parents, Wacy F. Sokolowski (deceased) and Patricia Nolan LeBeaux.
John graduated from Gardner High School in 1963 and from UMass at Amherst in 1965. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969.
After working in the college food service industry, he moved to York, PA in 1977 and was Executive Vice-President of Custom-Bilt Machinery. During this time, he was active in the York County Amateur Golf Association where he was an Honorary Life Member and the 1987 Man of the Year. In 2010, he became a Professional Teaching Golf Pro. He taught golf at Crystal Falls Golf Club, Leander, TX from 2010 to 2014; then from 2014 to Summer of 2018 he taught at the Highlands of Donegal Golf Club, Mount Joy, PA. John was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, East Petersburg, the PGA, and the American Legion Post 185 of Mount Joy.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, the Rev. Susan (Faltin) Sokolowski; 3 children, John Keith Sokolowski of Baltimore, MD, Susan K. Jaynes and her husband, Mark of Warren, PA, and Sarah A. Sheneman and her husband, Scott of Boyce, VA; and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia LeBeaux; his siblings, Kurt Sokolowski, Tina Geis, Sharon Leger, and Rosemary Southwick; his step-mother, Margery (Poirier) Sokolowski; and 2 step-brothers, Alan and Gerald Poirier.
The family will have a private interment service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Dr. Rev. Chris Rankin officiating.
