James Allen Eshleman, devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, faithful son, loyal brother and caring uncle went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2018. He was born on June 13, 1934 at home in Creswell (Manor Twp., Lancaster Co.) PA. James was the son of the late Earl B. and Erma Kerstetter Eshleman. Jim married the love of his life, Patricia Buch Eshleman in 1954.
Jim graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1952 where he was active in musical productions, as well as soccer and baseball. He briefly attended Millersville State College before entering the United States Marine Corps where he served from 1954-1957 as a Guided Missile Fire Control Technician Instructor.
While working full-time at RCA, Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts and Science degrees in Physics from F&M College. He became a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Jim held a patent registered in Great Britain for industrial magnetronics. He presented a number of technical papers at professional conferences. He retired in June 1997 as the Engineering Manager for Burle Industries.
He and his wife are members of Ascension Lutheran Church, Willow Street. He enjoyed spending time with his family. In his spare time through the years you could find him on the tennis court, behind home plate both as a catcher and umpire, perfecting his golf game and hunting at the South Fairview Rod and Gun Club in Cumberland County where he served as Treasurer for many years.
Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia of Willow Street; daughters, Debra Eshleman of Lancaster, Diana and her husband Rick Griffith of Lititz, Doreen and her husband Robert L. Hershey, Sr. of Lancaster and Patti and her husband Brian Mountz of Terre Hill and his sister Pat Eshleman Winters of Highville. Jim has 4 grandchildren; Ryan Griffith, Jason Griffith, Ericka Griffith and Bob Hershey, Jr. and one great grandchild, Bobby Hershey III. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by sisters and brothers: Zelda, Mildred, Betty, June, Richard, Robert, Harold, Dennis and his son-in-law, Thomas White.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jim's Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11AM from the Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, PA with Rev. Steven R. Bowser and Rev. Maureen Seifried officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11AM.
