Donald L. "Donnie" Nelson, 66, of Landisville, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Eloise (Dugan) Nelson. Donnie was the husband of Lisa (Rohrbach) Nelson with whom he celebrated 8 years of marriage this past November 5th.
Donnie graduated from Garden Spot High School, and later attended Elizabethtown College. Donnie’s working career was spent at Case New Holland where he worked for 37 years before taking an early retirement in 2004. He worked in various capacities over the years, most involving the development and implementation of business application systems. At his retirement, he was a Project Manager serving the Sales and Marketing organization. After leaving CNH, he formed his own company, New Horizons Consulting Group, which offered systems consulting services. Donnie was a former member of the New Holland Jaycees and participated at the state and national level for the organization. He was an avid golfer and long time member of Meadia Heights Golf Club. A sports enthusiast, he was a big Penn State fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Lisa are two daughters, Kimberly Nelson Cargiulo of Bethlehem, PA, and Tammy Nelson of Lancaster; two step-daughters, Kacey Moore wife of Benjamin of Glenside, PA, and Kara Barr wife of Zachary of Manheim; two grandchildren, Kyle and Nicholas Cargiulo; three step-grandchildren, Kensie and Ryder Barr, and Keller Moore. Also surviving is a brother, William Nelson husband of Wendy of Ephrata; a sister, Audrey Steele of Columbus, OH; a step-brother, Thomas Hoober, and step-sister, Nancy Hoober both of New Holland.
A Memorial Service honoring Donnie’s Life will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 85 Brandt Blvd., Landisville, PA 17538 on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 3 P.M. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 1:30 P.M. - 3 P.M. Interment will be private.
