Denver-Ephrata Rotary

Cocalico High School senior Grant Mellinger was recognized as the February Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Denver-Ephrata Area.

Grant is a member of NHS, Leo Club and symphonic band. He plays on the tennis and soccer teams; he was named a soccer Lancaster-Lebanon League academic all star.

Denver Lions Club

The Denver Lions Club named Cocalico High School senior Taylor Bender as Student of the Month for March.

A member of National Honor Society, she has earned a place on the 4.0 honor roll throughout high school. She has been Student of the Month for various academic departments at Cocalico, and is a member of the Leo Club.

Taylor has tutored elementary students, served at retirement homes, and collected donations for Operation Smile.

Lancaster Sunrise Rotary

The Rotary Club of Lancaster Sunrise recognized seniors Janna Oyola and Adrian Waplinger as Manheim Township High School Students of the Month for January.

Janna’s favorite subjects are English, Spanish and biology. She is a member of Key Club International and the International Baccalaureate Program. President of the Asian Pop Culture Club, Janna has received a student leadership award. She volunteers at Manheim Township Public Library.

Adrian is involved in the Interact Club and Mini-THON. Named to first honor roll, he is a member of NHS. His favorite subjects are economics and math. Adrian is a four-year varsity letter winner for swimming and a Five Star Swim Club participant.

The club also recognized Jolie Awad and Liam Rockwell as Manheim Township Middle School Students of the Month for January.

Jolie lists math and world language as her favorite subjects. She is involved in vocal ensemble, chorus and orchestra. She is a member of the Skyline Sharks Swim Team.

Liam’s favorite subjects are math and science. He participates in cross country and track, and enjoys climbing and skiing with his family.

Manheim Rotary, Woman’s Club

Manheim Central High School seniors Anthony Stoltzfus and Isabella Lukas were named March Students of the Month. Classmates Josh Varner and Katrina Shenk are the April honorees.

The boys are sponsored by Rotary Club of Manheim, the girls by the Manheim Woman’s Club.

Anthony is a member of Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, historian for the National Spanish Honor Society, and treasurer for NHS and Student Council. A member of the tennis team, he is a videographer for the morning announcements at Manheim Central and is involved in Interact Club, Spanish Club, Video Yearbook, Ping Pong Club and Wednesday morning worship.

Anthony, who plays upright bass in a bluegrass band called Emazing Grace, is involved in the Manheim Brethren in Christ youth group and worship teams. A member of FFA, he serves on the junior board of the Manheim Community Farm Show.

Isabella is a member of NHS, National Science Honors and Tri-M Music Honor societies. She is the recipient of the first-year biology award and the L. Kent History Award; this summer she will attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards student conference. She is involved in Interact Club, Spanish Club, International Culture Day, Chansodie and Student Council. She is secretary/treasurer of Science Club.

Active in her church, she has served on mission trips to Haiti and El Salvador.

Josh is a member of NHS and Rho Kappa National Social Studies, Spanish and National Art honor societies. Vice president of Spanish Club, he is also involved in Ping Pong Club, Interact Club and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. He is co-leader of Wednesday morning worship and a member of the cross country and swim teams.

Katrina is a member of marching band, music ensembles and Interact Club. She has earned positions in the band festivals of the Lancaster-Lebanon and Pennsylvania music educators associations. She has been involved in Science Olympiad, Amnesty International, Wednesday morning worship, Quiz Bowl, the Spanish and Music honor societies, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta and National Science Honor Society.

She is also involved in the Erisman Youth Group, church worship team, Lititz Community Band, and the Lititz Moravian Trombone Choir.
