Police have identified the couple killed in a Sunday-morning wreck in Caernarvon Township as a local real estate agent and his wife.

Michael R. Mastros, owner of Michael Mastros Real Estate in Lancaster city, and his wife, Ellen H. Mastros, died in the crash, according to police.

Michael Mastros was driving a blue Scion sedan that collided with a pickup truck pulling a trailer on Route 23 near North Pool Forge Road, police reported.

The truck driver, 69-year-old Thomas Kenneth Emery, of Chester Springs, was towing a cattle trailer loaded with sheep bound for New Holland Sales Stables, according to officials.

Police are investigating what caused Mastros to pull out of a parking lot onto Route 23, into the path of the pickup truck.

Mastros turned east directly in front of the westbound truck, and his car was struck nearly head-on, police said.

Michael and Ellen Mastros, both 63, were pronounced dead at the scene by a Lancaster County deputy coroner.

The couple was married for 41 years. They had two adult children.

An autopsy determined that both died from multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the crash, according to Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni.

Emery wasn't hurt, police said.
