EAST HEMPFIELD TWP.: Officials at Zips Dry Cleaning, 3011 Columbia Ave., reported Saturday that an attempt was made to enter the business. A metal door and frame were damaged. Loss is $300.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

NEW HOLLAND: Shane MacDonald, 18, of New Holland, was charged after he verbally abused a teacher at Garden Spot High School March 26.

DRUG CHARGES

CHESTER CO.: Charlie Albert Rivera Padilla, 21, of Lancaster, came into contact with state police after his car broke down along Route 30 in Caln Township Saturday. He was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

RAPHO TWP.: Jessie T. Shenk, 20, of Lawn Road, Manheim, Brian T. Lupold, 19, of Poplar Lane, Elizabethtown, and Matthew J. Kuraska, 20, of Monroe, are facing charges after they were found in a parked vehicle, under the influence of a controlled substance and with marijuana and open bottles of alcohol in the car, on March 9.

Police charged Shenk with possession with intent to sell marijuana and Lupold and Kuraska with possession of a small amount of the drug. All three men were also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and underage drinking.

EDITOR'S NOTE: District Judge Jayne Duncan on June 24 dismissed all charges against Kuraska, a judge’s spokeswoman said.

DUI

CHESTER CO.: Ann Marie Straley, 48, of Leola, was arrested after being stopped for a traffic violation on Birdell Road in Honey Brook Township Saturday, state police said.

RAPHO TWP.: Matthew R. Kelly, 33, of Conestoga Avenue, Manheim, was charged after his vehicle crossed the center line March 15 at Mount Joy and Colebrook roads.

RAPHO TWP.: Tara A. Shenk, 28, of North Hanover Street, Elizabethtown, was charged after she was pulled over for speeding Feb. 22 at East Main Street and McKinley Avenue.

FALSE REPORTS

MANHEIM: Wanda Ortiz, 41, of South Main Street, was charged after reporting a fictitious home invasion to police March 28.

GUN INCIDENT

LANCASTER: Officers responded to a call regarding someone pointing a gun at a trash truck and employees at 6:43 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East Filbert Street, city police Sgt. Bill Hickey said. A gray Honda sedan with two male occupants and 1 female occupant was involved. One of the males pointed a gun at one of the trash truck employees and told him that he was moving too slow. The Honda then left the area, and no further description was provided. The trash truck employees contacted their dispatcher, who in turn called 911, delaying a police response. Hickey said police did not locate the Honda and Lancaster Community Safety Coalition cameras did not reveal anything.

SIMPLE ASSAULT

RAPHO TWP.: James R. Jackson, 52, of Birch Lane, has been charged with simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia after he struck a person in the face during a fight March 27 at his home.

THEFT

EAST HEMPFIELD TWP.: A $500 cellphone was reported stolen Friday at Centerville Middle School.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

SALISBURY TWP.: The driver of a car was taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries after the car and a minivan collided at Route 897 & Buena Vista Road around 6 p.m. Tuesday, White Horse Deputy Fire Chief John Beyer said. The five occupants of the minivan were not injured.
