In early July, Francesca McAndrews, a social worker at Lancaster General Hospital, rescued a piglet from traffic on Queen Street in Lancaster after the piglet presumably fell off a livestock truck.

Stories about the piglet, eventually affectionately named Enzo the Escape Artist Pig, quickly won over the hearts of many locals and garnered national media attention.

But Enzo requires a life-saving surgery to repair an hernia she sustained during the Two downtown Lancaster businesses, the Candy Factory and Rachel's Creperie, decided to hold fundraisers to help raise funds to cover Enzo's veterinary care.

The Candy Factory's Swine & Wine event took place Wednesday, treating attendees to refreshments, a chance to meet Enzo and an original comic about Enzo by Florida artist Petterson Oliveira.

Rachel’s Creperie will host “Crepes with Enzo” Sept. 6 from  7 a.m. to 8 p.m. during which a portion of the day’s sales will go toward vet bills.
