A Lancaster General Hospital employee charged with indecent assault has been placed on administrative leave.
Shawn Moyer, 30, a pulmonary therapist, is accused of touching the genitalia of an unconscious patient in a non-clinical fashion on Sept. 12, 2018, according to a press release from the Lancaster Bureau of Police. The victim awoke to find Moyer with his own genitalia exposed, at which point Moyer ran from the room, the release said.
"Mr. Moyer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues," John Lines, director of public relations for the hospital, said. "We promptly investigate any complaint or allegation of inappropriate conduct by our employees, and communicate those findings to the patient. In addition, we cooperate fully with police in their investigations."
Moyer is charged with abuse of care dependent person, indecent assault, open lewdness, indecent exposure and invasion of privacy, all misdemeanors.
Moyer was arrested on Nov. 8 and is being held at Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
