Sunny skies and hot temperatures are on tap for Lancaster County today, as the first day of a potential heat wave begins.

Wednesday will be a high of 90 with temps dropping back down tonight, with a low of 67.

Today will be mostly sunny with wind around 5 to 10 mph.

The high temps begin a three-day streak in the county with temps above 90 degrees -- Thursday's high is 91 and Friday's high is 94.

According to AccuWeather meteorologist Kyle Elliott, this will be the first official heat wave for Lancaster County.

A heat wave is defined as three or more consecutive days with highs at or above 90 degrees.

The humidity is down a little from Tuesday, at 88%, and is expected to continue to drop over the next few days.

While there is a slim chance of showers today, the rain isn't likely to move back into the area until late Friday night and Saturday morning.
