Strasburg derailment

Crews work to get car 99 back on the tracks after a Thursday morning derailment at the Strasburg Rail Road

A derailment disrupted service at the Strasburg Rail Road Thursday.

Open air passenger car 99 ran off the tracks at around 9:15 a.m. after a glitch at a switching station.

No passengers were on the train at the time, and there were no injuries, said Station Master Steve Barrall. Service was disrupted in that passenger trains ran out of the East Yard rather than the main terminal.

The car was back on the tracks by 3:30 p.m.

"We're thankful that we have an experienced team of skilled engineers and mechanics who are able to handle situations like that," Barrall said.
