Lisa Sanchez, a Naturalist with the Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation, led Lancastrians on a hike to look for and scrape the spotted lanternfly egg masses from trees in the Speedwell Forge County Park on Sunday, January 24th. Looking for the overwintering egg masses and removal will prevent about 50 per mass from hatching in the spring. The invasive species was first discovered in Pennsylvania in 2014.
