A company partnering with Lancaster General Health on a planned psychiatric hospital has the highest-paid CEO in the hospital industry, according to an industry report.

Axios reported that Alan Miller of Universal Health Services had the highest overall earnings of any of his peers in 2016, based on legal filings it reviewed.

"He made more than $51.3 million in 2016, based on the amount of stock and option awards that actually vested," the online publication reported. "Alan's son, Marc, is president of UHS and made $7.2 million."

Another industry publication, Becker's Healthcare Review, reported that the company based in King of Prussia had net income of $702.4 million on revenues of $9.8 billion in 2016.

Universal Health Services is the nation's largest mental-health hospital chain, with more than 240 facilities.

Work on Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital, the 126-bed hospital it will run with Lancaster General, is scheduled to begin in May, with the facility in Lancaster city to open in 2018.
