A woman was charged with DUI after a crash that injured two passengers in Strasburg Township early Sunday.

A 21-year-old Manheim Township woman was drunk when she crashed her vehicle, seriously injuring two passengers, in Strasburg Township on Sunday, police said.

Samantha Jo Pfautz, of 2817 Brookfield Road, was charged with DUI, aggravated assault while DUI, driving under suspension, accidents involving death or personal injury, careless driving, a lane violation and a seatbelt violation.

She was arraigned by District Judge David Miller and released after posting $20,000 bond, court papers show.

According to charging documents, Pfautz was traveling north on Beaver Valley Pike when she lost control on a curve and struck an embankment near Bunker Hill Road shortly before 3 a.m.

Upon hitting the embankment, the vehicle spun around, ejecting Dillon Hertzog and Stevie Ewing from the car, according to a criminal complaint.

In speaking with state troopers at the scene, Pfautz said she caused the crash and said she was driving because the others were heavily intoxicated, the complaint states.

Pfautz said she wasn't speeding and that she hydroplaned on the wet road.

She admitted to drinking 1 1/2 cups of vodka and Fireball whisky prior to the crash, according to the complaint. Police said she consented to a breath test after the accident and had a blood alcohol level of .131 percent.

Two open bottles of liquor in the car, the complaint states.

Officials said Hertzog and Ewing both had serious injuries.

Hertzog suffered a broken leg and pelvis, and had several facial fractures. Police said Ewing suffered multiple spinal fractures. It wasn't known if they remained hospitalized Tuesday.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 19.
