Police say a southern Lancaster County man assaulted another man on Wednesday because he refused to party with him.

State police were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Black Barren Road for a report of a fight shortly before 12:30 a.m., Trooper James Spencer reported.

Richard Edgar Hill, 29, of Peach Bottom, tackled a 21-year-old Avondale man off of a chair and over a porch wall, according to a criminal complaint.

Hill then struck him in the head with a glass and stone hummingbird feeder because he was “refusing to party with him,” Spencer said.

Neighbors intervened and Hill fled toward Maryland before police arrived, the complaint states.

Hill was charged with simple assault and harassment before District Judge Stuart Mylin.
