West Lampeter crash

One person was injured in this car when it crashed underneath a tractor-trailer on Beaver Valley Pike in West Lampeter Township Thursday.

A Strasburg woman was injured when her car crashed into a tractor-trailer in West Lampeter Township Thursday morning.

Geraldine Schapansky, 83, was traveling north on Beaver Valley Pike shortly after 8 a.m. when the truck driver pulled out in front of her, police said.

Schapansky’s 1998 Mercury struck the side of the flatbed trailer and went underneath it, township police Officer Tom Murray said. She was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

James L. White III, 47, of Harrisburg, had pulled his tractor-trailer from a stop sign at Gypsy Hill Road and turned left to go south on Beaver Valley Pike when the accident happened, police said.

White was not injured. He will be cited with a stop sign violation, police said.

Beaver Valley Pike was closed for an hour.
