A van full of passengers collided with a car in southern Lancaster County this morning, injuring four people and closing Route 896 for nearly two hours, authorities said.
Six other passengers were checked by medics, treated and released at the scene.
The 5 a.m. crash occurred at Route 896 and Dry Wells Road, near the village of Ninepoints in Bart Township. The intersection is several miles east of Quarryville and south of Gap.
Route 896 was closed from Route 372 to the scene until just before 7 a.m.
Lancaster County-Wide Communications classified the crash as a "mass casualty incident" to bring additional medics to the scene and also place a medical helicopter on standby.
Bart Township Capt. Larry Lucarino said four people were taken to Lancaster General Hospital. Three of them required a medic while the fourth only needed a basic life support ambulance.
State police are investigating.
