One person was critically injured in a crash involving a motorcycle in East Hempfield Township Tuesday.

Police have released more information about a wreck that critically injured a 17-year-old motorcyclist in East Hempfield Township Tuesday.

Joseph Anderson, 71, of Lancaster, was driving a Honda Odyssey north in the 600 block of Landisville Road at 11:45 a.m., township police said.

After missing a turn on Long Road, Anderson pulled into a driveway and turned around, police said. He backed out of the driveway and began to pull forward when a motorcycle driven by a 17-year-old Landisville boy crested a hill.

The cyclist, whose name has not been released, tried to avoid colliding with the van, but struck its right rear corner, police said. He suffered critical injuries and was taken to Lancaster General Hospital. His updated condition was unavailable Wednesday.

Anderson was not injured, police said. They are still investigating.

Landisville Road was closed between Spooky Nook Road and Long Road for several hours.
