A Mountville woman stole more than $50,000 from her employer by fraudulent use of her company’s credit card, police allege.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of 41-year-old Heather Hartman on Nov. 16, police said. She turned herself in on Nov. 21.
According to Manor Township police, the theft was reported June 1 by Hartman’s employer, J. Gordon Gainer LLC, which also operates as JG Homes.
Hartman, who was no longer employed by the company, had “inappropriately used her company-issued credit cards for personal use in addition to paying personal bills through the company checking accounts,” police said.
Police found that about $51,161 in unauthorized charges and electronic payments had been made with the company card, according to a release Monday.
Also, $658.38 had been paid toward Hartman’s personal debt using four forged checks from the company, police said. Apparently, according to the release, Hartman used a signature stamp to sign the checks.
She was charged with forgery and access device fraud and arraigned before District Judge Joshua Keller, who scheduled a preliminary hearing on Dec. 4, according to court records.
