gap crash

The driver of this minivan was injured when he rear-ended a tractor-trailer Monday near Gap.

A man was hospitalized after his minivan collided with a tractor-trailer Monday in Salisbury Township. The 5:45 p.m. accident initially was reported to be a head-on crash. State police said both vehicles were traveling east on Lincoln Highway — about 1½ miles east of Route 41 — when the minivan rear-ended the tractor-trailer. The driver of the minivan, Donald E. Lemaster, 43, of Kinzers, was freed from the wreckage by firefighters and taken to Lancaster General Hospital.

Gap Fire Chief Troy Wenger Wenger said Lemaster's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Police said he was charged with a passing violation.

The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.
