The man shot to death Friday night in Lancaster city has been identified as Pedro Flores Jr.

Flores, 37, of 145 E. Clay St., died from a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was homicide, Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said after an autopsy Monday.

Lancaster city police said their investigation is ongoing.

Police found Flores on the north side of East Clay Street between Cherry and Lime streets shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when they responded to a call for a person down. He was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.

Authorities do not think the shooting was random, according to Lancaster County district attorney’s office spokesman Brett Hambright.

A woman who lives in the 100 block of East Clay Street said she heard what sounded like two gunshots while she was in her house.

It was the ninth homicide this year in Lancaster County. According to newspaper records, there were 17 homicides in the county in 2015.
