Lancaster Office of Neighborhood Engagement recently awarded nine “mini-grants” as part of the city’s “Love Your Block” program.

The grants will assist with initiatives to combat blight and litter and build community in the Love Your Block program area, which covers Howard Avenue and ChurcheTowne.

Applicants could seek $500 to $2,000. In all, about $13,500 was awarded, city spokeswoman Amber Strazzo said.

Lancaster was one of 10 cities selected for the Love Your Block program last year. Funding comes from Bloomberg Philanthropies and the federal Corporation for National and Community Service.

Another round of mini-grants will be awarded this fall. Contact the Office of Neighborhood Engagement for more information or to submit an application.
