Rt 222-30 Crash

One person was injured when a car struck a sign pole on southbound Route 222 in Manheim Township Tuesday afternoon.

One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Manheim Township.

The wreck happened on southbound Route 222, just north of Route 30, about 2:40 p.m.

Manheim Township fire Chief Rick Kane said a male driver was southbound on Route 222 when his vehicle went off the right side of the highway under the Eden Road bridge.

The sedan traveled in the dirt and grass on the berm of the road, then on the right side of the guard rail before hitting the pole of an overhead sign head-on, according to Kane.

He said the driver, who was in his 30s, was semiconscious but not coherent at the scene and was taken to a local hospital.

Kane said the man’s injuries did not appear serious and said he may have suffered a medical issue prior to the crash.
