By ALEJANDRO RIOS | Community Engagement Specialist InsideGov recently looked at the political ideology of every governor in the U.S.
Using data from OnTheIssues, InsideGov scored each governor’s views on important issues. It then converted the scores to a scale from most liberal, with a score of -10, to most conservative, which carries a score of +10.
With an ideology score of -5, InsideGov determined Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is the most liberal governor in the nation.
Do you feel Gov. Tom Wolf is the most liberal governor in the U.S.?
The overall ideology score is based on the average of Wolf’s scores on his views on individual rights, domestic issues, economic issues, and defense and international issues.
His opposition to citizens having an absolute right to gun ownership earned him a -10, while he scored a -6 for favoring expanding Obamacare.
Wolf received a -10 for strongly favoring higher taxes on the wealthy and another -10 for strongly agreeing that abortion is a woman’s unrestricted right.
