Former U.S. HUD Secretary Julian Castro will speak in Lancaster on Oct. 23 in a fundraiser for CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health.
Philip Goropoulos, president of the nonprofit, said in a release that Castro's career and life "have been driven by a desire and a passion for creating healthy and thriving communities both locally, as the mayor of San Antonio, Texas, and nationally as the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama.”
He continued, "As we as an organization continue to focus on building healthier communities throughout Lancaster County, we are incredibly honored to bring a nationally-recognized figure to Lancaster to share his knowledge and experience in this area.”
The lecture is scheduled from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster, with tickets available for $50. Tickets that include a 5 p.m. dinner at Carr's Restaurant are $125. Seating is limited.
