A Berks County man was critically injured in a rollover crash on Route 222 in West Earl Township on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Peach Road, about a mile south of Route 322, at 2:39 p.m. Fire officials arriving at the scene reported a one-car crash with entrapment and a male driver with a head injury.

Crews worked for 20 minutes to free Darwin Cordon-Ramirez, 24, of Temple, from his 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, according to West Earl Township police. He was taken by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital where he was in critical condition Sunday night, according to a nursing supervisor. He was upgraded to serious condition Monday morning.

Police said the vehicle had been traveling north when it crossed the median and southbound lanes, then overturned on an embankment on the shoulder of the road.

Authorities said they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
