No one was home when a fire broke out on North Pine Street Wednesday in Lancaster city.
The fire started in the living room area of the home at 659 N. Pine St. around 10:21 a.m., according to Lancaster City Fire Battalion Chief Todd Hutchinson.
Hutchinson said the fire was contained to only that room and there were no injuries as firefighters put out the flames.
Crews had the fire under control in less than 40 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Lancaster city fire marshal.
Hutchinson said he did not know how many people lived in the home, but said it would not be immediately livable. He said there is smoke damage throughout the house and minimal water damage.
More than half the windows on the first floor were broken out to help ventilate the smoke.
