Two cars and an Ephrata Borough home were damaged after an ambulance driver suffered a medical emergency early Friday.
The accident happened after Ephrata Community Ambulance responded to a medical emergency in the first block of Akron Road around 1:30 a.m., according to police.
Emergency medical technicians loaded the patient into the ambulance, and a male EMT was driving the ambulance away when he "suffered a medical emergency," police said.
The ambulance hit a parked Subaru station wagon which was pushed into a parked Ford SUV. The Ford was pushed into a home and caused moderate damage to an outside wall, police said.
The driver, who was not identified, was transported to WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital and is expected to recover, police said. Two other EMTs were evaluated at the hospital.
The original patient was also transported to WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.
