Audio recording of Bruce Springsteen's 1984 show at the Village in Lancaster

Bruce Springsteen performs at the Village in 1984.

In the early morning hours of June 22, 1984, Bruce Springsteen paid a surprise visit to the Village in downtown Lancaster.

The New Jersey native and his E Street Band had been at Clair Brothers in Lititz trying out a new sound system and lights for an upcoming tour.

About 200 were at the performance, which took place unexpectedly after an advertised gig by the Sharks.

After the performance, cassette tape copies of a live recording of the show circulated among area fans.

Now, on the 60th anniversay of the Village, LancasterOnline.com presents this rare audio recording of Springsteen's entire 35-minute performance in downtown Lancaster.
