Dozens of volunteers joined forces Friday as part of Charter Homes’ annual “Make a Difference Day.”

Starting at 8 a.m., they spent a full day making repairs and improvements to Crispus Attucks Community Center at 407 Howard Ave. in southeast Lancaster.

The work included replacing the roof, the stage and some of the flooring; updating the bathrooms and electrical system; creating new activity spaces; and extensive painting and landscaping.

The many Charter Homes employees who participated were joined by volunteers from other home improvment companies, including Sherwin Williams. Marquis Lupton, Crispus Attucks’ coordinator, said the organization was “thrilled” to be chosen as this year’s beneficiary.
