Graduations

Jocelyn Nicole Yurchak graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in health care management from the University of Mount Olive, Mount Olive, North Carolina. She was named to the president’s list with a 4.0 GPA for the spring 2018 semester.

She was inducted into Delta Mu Delta and Upsilon Phi Delta academic honor societies. She also received the health care management Student of the Year award.

Yurchak was a four-year starter and captain for the women’s soccer team. A 2014 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, she is the daughter of John and Nancy Yurchak, of Leola.

Daniel R. Walton graduated with honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama.

A 2014 graduate of Lancaster Country Day School, he is the son of Matt and Kevia Walton, of Willow Street.

After serving as an assistant director for the People’s Shakespeare Project “Camp Will” this summer, Walton will return to New York City to pursue his career in acting.

Cassie Ippolito graduated from Towson University with a Master’s degree in speech- language pathology.

A 2012 graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School and a 2015 graduate of West Chester University, she is the daughter of Karen and Frank Ippolito, of West Lampeter Township.

Stuart Flury, of Elizabethtown, earned a Master of Arts in astronomy from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, on May 27, 2018.

Eric Getz received a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia.

Getz co-authored with Frank Aylward the academic publication “Parallel Evolution of Genomic Streamlining and Cellular Bioenergetics Across the Marine Radiation of a Bacterial Phylum.”

Getz is the son of Bryan and Sherry Bomberger, of Lititz, and Gary Getz, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Lancaster.

Four area students were among those who graduated from Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Virginia, on May 5, 2018.

Marshall C. Miller, of Lancaster, graduated summa cum laude and as a member of the college’s Flory Honors Program with a degree in political science.

Zachary Wall, of Lititz, graduated magna cum laude with a degree in psychology.

Jeanine Wagner, of Manheim, graduated cum laude with a degree in health and exercise science.

Kayla Strothers, of Narvon, earned a degree in business administration.

Four area students were among those who graduated from Arcadia University, Glenside, on May 18, 2018.

Jacqueline Carbonetta, of Lancaster, earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies.

Octavia Tolbert, of Lancaster, earned a Bachelor of Arts in global media.

James Hoover, of Leola, earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration.

Mackenzie Herr, of Millersville, earned a Bachelor of Arts in health care administration.

Dean’s list

Rhiannon Ippolito earned a 4.0 GPA and was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her junior year majoring in social work.

A 2015 graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, she is the daughter of Karen and Frank Ippolito, of West Lampeter Township.

Keagan Gamber was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Virginia Tech, where he is a junior studying mechanical engineering.

A 2015 graduate of Penn Manor High School, he is the son of Wade and Jill Gamber.

Reilly T. Workman was named to the dean’s list with honors for the spring 2018 semester at the College at Brockport, State University of New York, where he is a rising junior majoring in sport management with a minor in coaching.

Workman is a catcher for the Brockport baseball team. He was elected vice president of communications for the SUNYAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is president of Brockport Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is a peer mentor.

A graduate of the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School, he is the son of Gregory and Dolores Workman, of Mountville.

Brady Mellinger was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at the University of Pittsburgh.

A 2016 graduate of Garden Spot High School, he is the son of Randy and Lucinda Mellinger, of New Holland.

Grace Batchelder was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at York College, where she finished her freshman year, majoring in finance.

The daughter of Nancy and Jed Batchelder, of Lancaster, and a graduate of Manheim Township High School, she will be attending the Fox School of Business at Temple University in the fall.

Hannah Willig was named to the dean’s list this spring for the sixth consecutive semester at Penn State University, University Park.

Willig received the College of Earth and Mineral Science/ Energy Business Finance undergraduate merit award for the highest GPA in the class of 2017/2018.

She is the daughter of Chris and Lydia Willig, of Conestoga.

Connor Black was named to the dean’s list with a 3.69 GPA at Penn State University, University Park, where he is majoring in biology.

A 2017 graduate of Penn Manor High School, he is the son of John and Toni Black, of Lancaster.

Gianna Yurchak was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York, where she is a rising sophomore majoring in occupational therapy.

A 2017 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, she is the daughter of John and Nancy Yurchak, of Leola.

Samara Yurchak was named to the president’s list for the spring 2018 semester at the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, where she is a rising senior in the master’s of accounting program.

A 2015 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, she is the daughter of John and Nancy Yurchak, of Leola.

Area students were among those named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee.

They are Cassidy Petersheim and Allison Ritchey, both of Manheim.

Honors

Area high school students were among those who were awarded scholarships from YTI Career Institute through the Beacon Scholarship and Trades Scholarships programs. Winners were awarded full and partial tuition scholarships to attend YTI Career Institute and are listed with the program they will pursue.
