At Lancaster VegFest, crowds line up to buy vegan food from vendors from California and around the region.

Thousands of people packed Buchanan Park Saturday for the third annual Lancaster VegFest, a festival of live music, kids’ activities, speakers’ panels, a vegan cooking demonstration and lots of vegan food options.

Event organizer Courtney Kokus gave an initial crowd estimate of more than 10,000 people for the four-hour event. But she says she won’t be surprise if the eventual count reaches 15,000.

About 7,500 people attended last year’s festival.

The end of VegFest marks the beginning of Lancaster’s first Vegan Restaurant Week, running today through next Sunday, June 9.
