hot dogs

Today is National Hot Dog Day, a day to celebrate deals on frankfurters.

Do you 1. love hot dogs and 2. love them in a hot dog-eating contest kind of way?

Nathan's Famous announced it will hold a regional qualifier for its annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest in June in Lancaster.

The event will be held June 2 at 1 p.m. at Dutch Wonderland, 2249 Lincoln Highway East. Two people -- a man and a woman -- will move on to the international Coney Island contest, an Independence Day staple previously won by the likes of Joey Chestnut and Black Widow.

You can get more information here.

Registration for the event has closed due to capacity, according to the website. Participants must be 18 or older to compete.

Last year, Chestnut ate a world-record-setting 74 in 10 minutes at the ESPN-televised event. Miki Sudo won the Ladies’ Title with 37.
