11 Lancaster County farmers markets to check out this summer

As summer begins to blossom, Lancaster County's open-air farmers markets swing into peak season.

Here are just a few of the many places in Lancaster County to find locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables.

Brook Lawn Farm Market

Where: 2325 Lititz Pike, Lancaster

When: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday; from April through Oct. 26.

What: Farm-grown produce with a focus on strawberries, sweet corn, peaches heirloom tomatoes and fresh-picked produce from other local growers including asparagus, lettuce, radishes, green beans, melons and more. Also expect to find flowers, hanging baskets, herbs, vegetable plants and mulch – which is available from March through late October.

Corn Wagon

Locals swarm the Corn Wagon for fresh out of the fields sweet corn.

The Corn Wagon

Where: Located three miles south of Lancaster city, along Route 741, a quarter-mile north of intersection with Route 324.

When: 8 a.m. until sold out of produce Monday through Saturday; closed Sunday. Weather permitting.

What: Corn! In a wagon! Farm-grown summer produce including sweet corn eggplant, cayenne and jalapeno peppers, peaches, tomatoes and zucchini (other seasonal produce available in the fall). Also features locally-grown produce, including cantaloupes, onions, potatoes, red beets, strawberries and more. Bring your own bags. Pay with cash or local checks only.

Lancaster East Side Market

Lancaster East Side Market returns the first Sunday in June.

East Side Market

Where: Musser Park, Lime and Chestnut streets in Lancaster city. 

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sundays from June 2 to Oct. 13 (except Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends).

What: Open-air market featuring produce, meat, bread, baked goods, wine, handmade goods, live music, yoga classes and more. Special events including art markets, kids days, flea markets and more take place during the season. Schedule on website.

Where: 1061 Weaverland Road, East Earl

When: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday; April to November.

What: Farm fresh produce including asparagus, cucumbers, corn, peppers, watermelons, green beans, onions, potatoes and more.

Lititz Farmers Market

Where: Lititz Springs Park on North Broad Street.

When: 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, from May 16 to Oct. 17. (closed on Fourth of July weekend).

What: Produce, baked goods, flowers, hummus, seafood and much more including a featured food truck and live music act each week.

Where: 265 Paradise Lane, Ronks

What: Farm-grown produce asparagus, tomatoes, sugar peas, sweet onion plants, strawberries, rhubarb, watermelon, potatoes, apples, and flowers including Gerber daisies, zinnias, and marigolds plus hanging baskets.

Zook's Roadside Stand

Where: 3916 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gordonville

When: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, closed Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday during January and February.

What: Pennsylvania Dutch-style serving baked and canned goods including whoopie pie, shoo fly pie, canned stuffed peppers jams, jellies and more.
