Longwood Gardens at Christmas is a breathtaking spectacle of elegance and beauty.

Everyone knows it.

That’s why “A Longwood Christmas,’’ opening on Thanksgiving (yes, it’s open on Thanksgiving!) and running through Jan. 10, is so popular that it requires advance reservations to get in.

Considering the gardens are open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. for 45 days, yet timed tickets are still required, one can imagine the display’s tremendous draw.

This year, the holiday adornments are inspired by the gardens’ many fountains.

The grand Conservatory is filled with thousands of blue and white twinkling lights, and colorful seasonal plants.

Christmas trees glisten with icicles and fountain-inspired decorations.

But the beauty extends outdoors with a 20-foot lighted tree form looming over the Italian Water Garden and holiday colors dancing to the fountains of the Open Air Theatre.

Topiaries, luminaries, and an abundance of decorations greet visitors at every step.

Concerts and special events take place throughout the run of the display.

Depending on when you visit, admission is either $20 or $27 for adults (the heftier price tag is for peak days). Senior admission is $17 and $24; and students get in for $10 and $13.
