Bent Creek golfers aid library

The second annual Lancaster Public Library Golf Benefit will be held Monday, Sept. 22, at Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz

Registration is at 11:15 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $250 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, box lunch, goodie bag including a YES! putter ($150 value), gala cocktail/hors d'ouevres reception, awards dinner, silent auction and eligibility for competitive prizes.

Award winner lecturing

Author Douglas H. Shantz will present the Dale Brown Book Award Lecture, “German Pietists as Translators in ‘An Introduction to German Pietism,’ " at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Bucher Meetinghouse at the Young Center on the campus of Elizabethtown College.

The professor of Christian thought at the University of Calgary will discuss the work of Gottfried Arnold and Gerhard Tersteegen in translating the lives of medieval Catholic saints, as presented in his book.

Cookbook author at beerfest

John Holl, author of “The American Craft Beer Cookbook: 55 Recipes From Your Favorite Brewpubs and Breweries,” will sign his book at the Aaron’s Books booth from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28,  during the Lititz Craft Beer Festival on Main Street in Lititz.

The 350-page paperback includes recipes for Slow-Cooked Dopple Bock BBQ Meatballs, American Wheat Beer Steamed Clams, Beermosas and Pineapple Brown Sugar Pale Ale Cupcakes.

More than 30 breweries will offer 70-plus craft beers; food trucks and eateries also will be selling their delicacies.
