Mountville Library

The Friends of the Mountville Branch Library are holding the third annual Vintage Jewelry Sale from 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Saturday at Mountville Church of the Brethren, 60 Clay St., Mountville. It’s located across from the library, and there is free parking.

Costume, genuine, vintage and new jewelry pieces, along with an assortment of ladies hats and purses, will be priced from 50 cents to just a few dollars for most items. Desserts also will  be offered for sale.

Finch Jewelers has offered a beautiful piece of jewelry silent auction. Patrons are also invited to bring in a piece of their jewelry to be cleaned and/or receive a quick appraisal. Jessica Finch, a GIA gemologist, will be at the sale 4-6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Donations of purses, jewelry and ladies’ hats will be accepted at the library until the time of the sale. Donations can also be made through Nov. 4 at the Lancaster Public Library, 125 N. Duke St., and the Marshall Street Book Store, 225 N. Marshall St. in Lancaster.

All proceeds benefit Lancaster Public Library West-Mountville Branch.

“Submit Smarter: How to Find the Right Home for Your Stories and Poems” is a workshop being held from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 20 at The Seed, 52 N. Queen St.

Its purpose is to help writers learn to research, identify and submit to the best publications for their work. It will be facilitated by Matthew Kabik, MFA, whose work has appeared in Structo Magazine, Pithead Chapel, WhiskeyPaper and Little Fiction, among others. It is organized by The Triangle.
