Bill and Cathy Shirk celebrated 50 years of marriage in December 2018. They were married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Coupon, PA by Father Joseph Weidman. They have two sons, Jim, husband of Stephanie ( Siekman) of East Earl, and John, husband of Molly (McCarthy) of Redmond, WA. They also have three grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, and Luke.
Cathy and Bill celebrated with a mass of Thanksgiving at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in New Holland on Friday, December 28th, followed by a drop-in luncheon at the church, hosted by their children, spouses, and grandchildren. Bill taught at Forbes Road High School in Hustontown, PA for two years after their marriage and retired from CNH in New Holland with over 34 years of service. Cathy was a secretary at Caernarvon Elementary School in Churchtown for 30 years.
Bill and Cathy are the eighth generations of the Stauffer family to live on Silver Valley Farm in Goodville. They are the fourth generation to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary while living there. Over the years they have enjoyed going to the Outer Banks with family and friends, their camp in Potter County, and road trips across the country.
