After more than 40 years in business, Colonial News, a newspaper and magazine store that featured lottery-ticket sales, will close 11 a.m. Friday.

The newsstand at 2600 Columbia Ave. was owned by Dan and RoxAnn Delmonto. They bought it 20 years ago from Ken and Darlene Beck. The Becks started the business in 1975.

RoxAnn Delmonto said the closure was triggered by the Becks’ decision to sell the building and the impending shutdown of QVC in West Hempfield Township, where her husband works.

Delmonto said she will be taking a position as lottery representative with the Pennsylvania Lottery, which she called “an ideal job.”

“Closing the business is bittersweet. We will miss our customers. There are people who we see daily,” she said.
